As Observer from Afar (OFA), I came across a report by the EU Commission on gender-based violence (pdf).
It’s a sobering reading. At times chilling to the bones.
For example, look at the results depicted in the graph on the left. 27% of Europeans consider it “justified in certain situations” to rape a person – as pointed out elsewhere in the report mostly women.
Whatever the “situations” are does not even matter (see page 31 of the report for a list). That more than one in four believe it’s OK to rape a person under any circumstance is terrifying.
