Speaking about water supply: hot water is provided via thermal solar panels for most houses and apartments. Sufficient sunshine around here, no need to burn anything, or waste electric power. There were hot water panels for each of the places where I have lived yet on the island.
The installation depicted to the left is for the big house and my little house. It’s rather big. My experience shows that also with one or two overcast days with little to no sunshine it will provide sufficient and sufficiently hot water.
Smaller houses have simpler solar panel installations, like the one on the right. These look like all-in-one kits that you can very easily install on the roof.
You see them everywhere.
