Port Louis, located on the west coast, is Mauritius’ capital. Here, you find all the government and administration branches, the big banks – both local and international –, the insurance companies, and all major business in general.
All goods that are imported via sea route arrive here, including my overseas container back in May. The airport in the south-east of the island.
The architecture is quite a mix, regarding style, age, and maintenance status. Check out the pictures. Houses with character from the days of yore, on front of “modern” abominations.
Towards the hills in the back, northwards, residential areas – and the horse race track!
And the streets are colourful.
